Nowadays, Technology has
become so powerful not only for its facilities to access but also for the
programs that it has. Moreover, children are becoming more aware of its use
since they are able to manipulate smart phones, laptops, tables and so on. As a
result, children are becoming more dependent of technology than adults.
I consider that if someone teaches a 4 year old kid about how to use a cell phone, how to look for games for example, it is not going to be any problem for him to learn becuase he is going to be attract by it. On the other hand, if a teacher wants to establish an age to introduce technology to a kid it could be fine if the child is 7 years old since it is a transition age in which children start a new school, new friends and new ways of learning too. Also, a 7 year old kid, if more aware of paying attention and his motor skills are more developed.
In sum, I consider that there
isn’t any specific age to introduce technology to kids because kids are different.
Hence, the way in which kids could become aware of the amazing impact that
technology has in life is going to depend on the familiarity that they have
with it.
You are right Kenia when you mentioned that children manipulate technology more than adults. It seems like if children born with the ability of using those tools like cellphones, tablet, etc, in fact, children are curious and they like to learn new things as you said, that´s why, teacher can involve them into technology to educational purpose, now we know a lot of tools that are useful with children. Also, as you, I consider that 7 could be a good age, they have fresh brains and they develop their skills more than adults, it could be great for many reasons, but also the most important, as you mentioned, it´s not the age, but the way how we teach our children to use it.
